Raffia bags are one of my favorites during the summer! Last year I was obsessed with my cult gaia bag (which I still am), but this year I’ve been leaning towards bags made from raffia. It just screams ‘Summa, summa, summa-timeee’! Woven raffia and wicker are similar to me and both are one of my favorites in the warmer months.
What is Raffia?
Raffia is “a palm tree native to tropical Africa and Madagascar, with a short trunk and leaves that may grow up to 60 feet (18 m) long. The fiber from the raffia leaves, used for making items such as hats, baskets, and mats” (Dictionary.com).
If you google ‘raffia’, you’ll see it is a natural color but it is often dyed other beautiful colors. This black bag (no longer online, but here is a similar one) I saw when walking through Zara, buying things I didn’t need, and just couldn’t leave without it. There are some really cute structured bags that are perfect for the season. Rounded up a few favorites made from raffia or with raffia accents right now. I also threw in a few of other fab summer bags that are on my wishlist. And if you see me out and about this Summer, sorry if you get tired of seeing this one!
