I know I’ve shared all too often that my love of entertaining and all things ‘home’ comes from my gorgeous momma! She really is the ULTIMATE hostess and I still learn so much from her in that regard – well, in everything honestly lol. She is not only skilled at creating the most beautiful events and settings, but she is especially skilled at making special moments. Moments that make all that are present feel welcome and special. That, to me, makes a true hostess.
I wanted to show you a little bit of what I mean. So, I’ve decided to feature my mom, Sharon, on the blog! She created this lovely tablescape as inspiration for you all and shared a bit about her love of entertaining and how to be a great hostess! Hope you enjoy this little Q&A – looking forward to sharing more inspo from her!
Hostess Q&A with My Mom
Q: Have you always enjoyed entertaining and home decor?
Q: What is your entertaining style? What is your styling inspiration?
Q: What makes a good hostess?
Q: What is the most important thing for a hostess to remember?
Q: What are your favorite things to host?
A: Hosting family anytime but especially during the holidays, (Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas). Making sure to have on hand each persons favorite, beverage, food, flowers, desserts, etc., and displaying everything well and presenting it all beautifully, of course. I’ve collected silver, china, crystal, for many years and I believe it should be used and enjoyed everyday, not saved for special occasions.
A reminder from Mom:
“When preparing for guests, no matter the occasion, big or small, I’m reminded of an article in Oprah magazine years ago, ‘Opening our homes to the people we care about means sharing the great Joys of Life: Our space, Our time, Our minds, Our hearts’.”
