I have distinct memories of going to brunches with my family when I was young and going in on the tea sandwiches! I have always loved them. Why? Probably because they look cute and yummy (we eat with our eyes after all). Tea sandwiches are a great hors d’oeuvre option to keep in your back pocket. Takes little time and you just can’t go wrong! Host a tea party and include them with some tasty baked goods or just make them for a lazy day at home, which is what I did. My own pretty tea party!
Tea Sandwich Go-Tos
My top 3 favorites are cucumber, salmon, and egg salad sandwiches. They take no time at all! One you ‘make’, the other two you assemble…simplicity and entertaining-ready at its finest!
Cucumber Tea Sandwich
I’ve been eating little to no dairy lately and Kite Hill is my favorite for vegan cream cheese. I went with the chive flavor, spread on bread and top with thinly sliced cucumbers. That’s it!
Salmon Tea Sandiwch
All you need is bread of choice, spread on the Kite Hill vegan cream cheese, grab some fresh Nova lox (or packaged which I typically purchase from Whole Foods) and sprinkle some freshly chopped dill!
Egg Salad Sandwich
I’d been on the hunt for a good egg salad recipe. More specifically, one that wasn’t loaded with unhealthy ingredients. I came across Lauryn Evarts (of The Skinny Confidential) grandma, ‘The Nanz’, egg salad recipe and it was delish! Check it out here. I used vegan mayo instead of regular and it was soo good. Love using cornichons in it as well!
Reminder: I used the bread I had on hand, but have fun with it. Try different kinds. I would also try getting cute cookie cutters to make pretty and precise shapes for your tea sandwiches. Place them on a nice platter and serve up!
