Winter white looks are one of my favorites – perfectly fresh, clean and ready to be accented! In true ‘new year, new look’ fashion, I wanted to create a simple and elegant dinner table setting. I decided to go with winter white and metallic silver and gold (clearly I haven’t gotten over my metallic themed holiday decor). The most special pieces used in this setting are the stunning ivory and gold Haviland china that were gifted to me by my mother-in-law. They were my hubby’s’ parents wedding china – doesn’t get more special than that!
Elegant doesn’t mean over the top…
When creating a table, I don’t like to go overboard. Don’t get me wrong, I like a setting to make a statement. However, I like it to be special and inviting. What do I mean? I like for guests to arrive and feel welcomed and feel as though the table was set with them in mind. And you should know by now, I love to set a beautiful table, even for just me and my mister. Might as well put my pretty pieces to use, right?!
Tried and true pieces work every time…
Don’t want to be pushed out of your home by your ever growing houseware/dinnerware collections like me? (I need more spaccceeee!!!! #condolife #slashhousewareaddict) Well, it’s my opinion that if you have a few statement pieces – you’re good to go when you want to elevate your table. Here are my top 5 recommendations:
Classic Glassware – that can go from casual to formal – these are my absolute favorite from Crate & Barrel
Flatware – I love these west elm flatware sets – I feel like a silver set is standard, but I love to dress up my settings (like this and this) with the gold and rose gold. The black is next up on my list!
Chargers – Always nice to have a ‘dressy’ charger that you can interchange with your dinnerware – even a classic, white everyday dinnerware will look beautiful on top of a fab charger #promise
Placemats – a beaded placemat or cloth placemat with some shimmer or in a cool print makes for added texture and beauty on a table. I know some people don’t use placemats and chargers (or vice versa) but to me they almost always go together!
Napkins – Okay, I love paper napkins as much as the next person (#easycleanup), especially since they make so many cloth lookalikes, but a cloth napkin takes your table up a notch.
Hope this helps as you build your dinnerware collection! Want me to share some of the things on my ever growing wishlist? If so, leave a comment or shoot me a message! XO
