I’ll admit, Halloween isn’t one of my favorite holidays. However, I love a reason to ‘dress up’ my home! Seasonal decor is festive and gives me a reason to switch things up a bit. I don’t know about you, but I get bored if things look the same around the house for too long. As you know, I love a pretty tablescape even for a low key dinner at home with my hubby so I put together this festive one for the two of us.

Halloween x Mackenzie-Childs…

Last year, I put together this Halloween tablescape using some of my Mackenzie-Childs pieces. You may not know, but I’m kind of obsessed with Mackenzie Childs. My mother introduced me to the brand years ago (as she collects a couple of their patterns). And I’ve started collecting them myself – my favorite: the courtly check! Probably because I’m obsessed with black and white everything and it’s a classic. It is also pretty perfect around Halloween because doesn’t it scream festive?

I brought out some of my favorite copper pieces to act as the base (instead of the cliche ‘orange’). These Chilewich placemats (that I also have in gold) are perfect and pretty inexpensive I might add. On top used my copper chargers from Crate and Barrel and flanked on either side rose gold/copper flatware from West Elm. Now for my ‘MC’ pieces. I added the courtly check charger on top of the copper one – mainly for more height and dimension. Then the courtly check dinner plate. Side note: all I could think about was how I ‘need’ the courtly check salad plates and/or (well, let’s be honest, AND) bowls. Hint Hint hubby!

Details…

I chose a solid black napkin for a bold look and added the courtly check napkin rings to them. With glassware I went a simplistic route with the stemless wine glasses (that I often use for water) and wine glasses with a copper detail. #details With the centerpiece I chose to go a very seasonal direction with a grouping of white pumpkins, adding some moodiness with the taper candles.

Again, whether it’s a cozy night in or a dinner party, tying in all of the details is important. Why? Because it looks more put together/pretty, plus, it shows care and attention.

On a totally different note…

Guys, I have NO CLUE what to be for Halloween. UGH! I secretly don’t like doing the whole coming up with a costume, dressing up, etc. #overit But, we’re going to a friends house so I need to get it together. Any ideas??
