{Hosting: A Colorful Brunch!}

I’ve been wanting to have friends over for brunch for awhile. Who doesn’t love a little day drinking, breakfast eating, social??
We hadn’t seen our friends George and Tanya in a while and wanted to catch up and this seemed like the perfect opportunity! Given that we’re nearing Spring, I decided to go for a colorful table setting (really in hopes that the positive Spring vibes would translate to the weather – it did not. Forecast: cold and rainy)
[Note: Yes, I know better- in my haste to set the table and get a picture before our friends arrived, I reversed the flatware *covers eyes* – it should be on the opposite side – do as I say, not as I do]
The Kate Spade New York Salut Collection was screaming my name and got to break them out! The pieces are melamine (as my mom said, “transalation: plastic” lol but they are durable and such good quality – plus super cute). The collection is bright and will be perfect to use throughout the Spring/Summer months for casual settings:

These pieces you could totally mix and match with sold whites or other solid colors for some contrast – play around with it – they’re meant to be fun! I also have my eyes on these tidbit plates:

For drinks, I made my brother’s legendary Bloody Mary’s (literally I have dreams about them-stay on the look out for the recipe). And… what brunch is complete without Mimosas? I mean come on – a must, at least in this champagne lovers house!

[Champagne Darling Inspiration]Always have your drinks ready when your guests arrive OR have all the ingredients on hand/set out so that the first thing after your hellos is getting them their drink of choice! It is the perfect way to begin any gathering 🙂
Also don’t forget something to nibble on if you aren’t sitting down to eat right away. For our brunch, I chose to make Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Cucumber Bites – so simple and delish!

When planning for brunch or any meal, pick one or two main dishes to keep it simple – my favorite inspiration, Ina Garten, says it best: “you don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen and miss your own party!” Either prepare the food yourself or buy a couple/all of the food (personally, I like to make at least one or two things because I enjoy it and it’s another excuse to try new recipes).
